Merchant & Mills Niven Dress or Shirt

Buy the Niven Dress or Shirt sewing pattern from Merchant & Mills. A classic shirt-dress or shirt featuring a bib, grandad collar and cuffed sleeves. The dress has in-seam pockets. Niven has been designed to have an oversized fit.

Suggested fabrics: The designer suggests choosing fabrics with a tight weave to help with sewing the fine detailing. Light to medium weight wovens such as cotton poplin, cotton chambray, Indian handlooms, hemp/cotton, lightweight denim (4-6 oz.).

Fabric requirements: All with or without nap.

Shirt: 110 cm (43 1/2″) wide fabric: 3 - 3.3 m (3 1/4 - 3 3/4 yd) // 120 cm (47″) wide fabric: 2.8 - 3.2 m (3 1/4 - 3 1/2 yd) // 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 2.4 - 2.8 m (2 3/4 - 3 1/4 yd) // 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 2.2 - 2.8 m (2 1/2 - 3 1/4 yd).

Dress: 110 cm (43 1/2″) wide fabric: 3.8 - 4.2 m (4 1/4 - 4 3/4 yd) // 120 cm (47″) wide fabric: 3.4 - 4 m (3 3/4 - 4 1/2 yd) // 140 cm (55″) wide fabric: 2.9 - 3.6 m (3 1/4 - 4 yd) // 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 2.9 - 3.6 m (3 1/4 - 4 yd).

Sizing: XS – XXL (approx. UK 10 – 30, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: Seven 1.2 cm (1/2") buttons; 0.5 m (3/4 yd) interfacing.
