Pattern Scout Hana Tank and Dress

Buy the Hana Tank and Dress sewing pattern from Pattern Scout. Hana is a basic v-neck tank with French seams. Each version can be sewn as a popover top or with a button front placket. Each can also be sewn with a cropped, hip length, tie waist or dress length hem. All versions feature bust darts with options for B, C or D cup sizes.

Version A is a popover tank top or dress. Version B is a button front tank top or dress. Version C features a cropped, tie waist with a button front.

Suggested fabrics: Light- to mid-weight woven fabrics. For a more structured, boxy fit, use fabrics such as linen, chambray, poplin, and voile. For a more fluid drape and flowing fit, use fabrics such as tencel, rayon challis, and crepe de chine.

Fabric requirements:

Version A

Crop/hip: 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric: 1.75 yd (1.6 m) // 54″ (150 cm) wide fabric: 1.25 - 1.5 yd (1.15 - 1.4 m).

Dress: 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric: 2.5 yd (2.3 m) // 54″ (150 cm) wide fabric: 2 - 2.25 yd (1.8 - 2 m).

Version B

Crop/hip: 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric: 1.5 - 1.75 yd (1.4 - 1.6 m) // 54″ (150 cm) wide fabric: 1.25 - 1.5 yd (1.15 - 1.4 m).

Dress: 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric: 2 - 2.25 yd (1.8 - 2 m) // 54″ (150 cm) wide fabric: 2 - 2.25 yd (1.8 - 2 m).

Version C

45″ (115 cm) wide fabric: 1.5 - 1.75 yd (1.4 - 1.6 m) // 54″ (150 cm) wide fabric: 1.25 - 1.5 yd (1.15 - 1.4 m).

Sizing: US 0 – 30 with B, C and D cups (approx. UK 6/8 – 30/32, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

If the difference between your high bust and full bust measurements is up to 2" (5 cm), you will sew the B cup. If the difference is 3" (7.6 cm), you are a C cup. If the difference is 4" (10 cm), you are a D cup. Refer to the Finished Garment Measurements chart to verify that the finished bust measurement of the cup size you choose is about 1 1/2" - 2" (3.8 cm - 5 cm) greater than your full bust measurement for comfortable ease in the bust. If the difference between your high bust and full bust is right at the upper threshold of a cup size, it might be more comfortable to size up or go to the next cup size. If the difference is 4" or greater, an additional full bust adjustment (FBA) may be needed. If the difference is 1" or less, a small bust adjustment (SBA) may be needed.

Notions: Light- to mid-weight fusible woven interfacing; 1/2" (12 mm) buttons, 6-7 for crop/tie waist, 7-8 for hip length, 13-14 for dress length.
