Buy the Away Tote sewing pattern from the Modern Sewing Co. The Away Tote is the perfect weekend bag. Taking inspiration from the bestselling Day Tote pattern, the Away Tote has been designed to hold more, with additional functions for carrying a heavier load.

Shaped to fit the size specifications of cabin luggage, the bag features a roomy interior that narrows towards the top, two handle lengths, spacious internal pockets, and the option of a zip top for security.

Suggested fabrics: 

Self: A sturdy and durable fabric. Suitable fabrics include cotton canvas or waxed cotton with a weight of approx. 450-600 gsm (13-18 oz).

Lining: A sturdy lining will help give the bag shape so choose something with a good weight and structure. Cotton canvas with a weight of approx. 250-450 gsm (8-12 oz) is a good option. 

Piping: A mid/light weight cotton or linen.

Fabric requirements: 

150 cm (60") wide fabric: Self, 1 m (1 1/8 yd) // Lining, 0.85 m (7/8 yd).

110 cm (44") wide fabric: Self, 1.5 m (1 5/8 yd) // Lining, 1.3 m (1 3/8 yd).

Piping fabric: 85 cm x 35 cm (7/8 yd x 3/8 yd).

Sizing: Finished dimensions: L 55 cm x W 28 cm x H 40 cm (21" x 11" x 16").

Notions: Mid/heavy weight fusible interfacing, 100 cm x 120 cm (1 1/8 yd x 1 1/4 yd) or double to fuse both outer and lining; 1.8 m (2 yd) of 3-4 cm (1 1/8"-1 5/8") wide webbing; 466 cm (5 1/8 yd) of 7 mm (5/16") piping string; 60-65 cm (23"-26") open ended zip.
