Buy the Carey Top sewing pattern from Itch to Stitch. Easy to style and comfy to wear, the Carey Top features a round neckline, elbow-length drawstring-gathered dolman sleeves, contrast shoulder panels and a high-low shirttail hem.

Suggested fabrics:

Primary fabric: Use a very lightweight soft woven fabric or knit fabric with drape. Rayon challis, voile, batiste, georgette, charmeuse and jersey are great choices. Do not use quilting cotton or heavier weight fabrics.

Contrast fabric: A contrast fabric is used for the shoulder panels. You could use the same fabric as the primary fabric, or use a similar quality fabric. You could also use a semi-transparent fabric to add interest.

Fabric requirements: Do not use fabric narrower than 54" (135 cm) as the primary fabric; it will not be wide enough to accommodate the pattern pieces.

Primary fabric: 54"/60" (135/150 cm) wide fabric: 1 5/8 yd (140 cm).

Contrast fabric: 44"/54"/60" (115/135/150 cm) wide fabric: 5/8 yd (60 cm).

Sizing: US 00 – 20 (approx. UK 8 – 22). Please check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 3 1/2 yd (320 cm) of purchased 1/4" (0.6 cm) ribbon, twill tape or cording can be used for the drawstrings instead of making your own.
