Helen's Closet Lawrence Top and Dress

Buy the Lawrence Top and Dress sewing pattern from Helen’s Closet. The Lawrence Top and Dress is a fun and breezy summer sew. It features a relaxed fit with a v-neck and an optional shoulder ruffle detail. Two lengths are provided for the dress, with a choice between two or three gathered tiers. The top is a great wardrobe staple and can be made even simpler with the omission of the shoulder ruffles. In this case, a bias binding method is used to finish the armholes instead. The bodice features bust darts and the v-neck is finished with a topstitched facing. This pattern does not include pockets but in-seam pockets can easily be added to the first tier of the dress if desired.

Suggested fabrics: Lightweight woven fabrics with no stretch. Linen, cotton (lawn, poplin, voile, batiste, seersucker, shirting, double gauze), Tencel twill, and rayon/viscose challis or poplin will work well. Structured fabrics like crisp cotton lawn will have more dramatic volume and drapier fabrics like rayon challis will have more fluid movement.

Fabric requirements: Allow extra fabric for pattern/print matching with large scale prints.

View A: 57″ (145 cm) wide fabric: 3 - 3.3 yd (2.7 - 3 m) // 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric (sizes 0-26 only): 3.1 - 3.5 yd (2.8 - 3.2 m).

View B: 57″ (145 cm) wide fabric: 5 - 5.3 yd (4.6 - 4.8 m) // 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric (sizes 0-18 only): 5 yd (4.6 m).

View C: 57″ (145 cm) wide fabric: 1.1 - 1.7 yd (1 - 1.5 m) // 45″ (115 cm) wide fabric: 1.5 - 2.2 yd (1.4 - 2 m).

Sizing: US 0 – 34 (approx. UK 6 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). This pattern includes two size options. There is a B-cup pattern for sizes 0 – 22 and a D-cup pattern for sizes 12 – 34. Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.
