Buy the Jia Surfsuit sewing pattern from Friday Pattern Company. It’s a one piece swimsuit, it's a bodysuit, it's a rashguard, it's a sun cover up - it's a surfsuit! The Jia is a raglan sleeved swimsuit with a zipper up the front. No need to sacrifice feeling cute when you’re trying to get a little extra sun protection! The Jia Surfsuit also offers optional underarm gussets for added mobility.

Suggested fabrics: The Jia Surfsuit is designed for knit fabrics. You will need a fabric with 4 way stretch and at least 50% crosswise stretch.

Fabric requirements: You may need to purchase extra yardage if your fabric has a heavy nap, is directional, striped, or has an obvious repeat.

Surfsuit: 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 1.5 - 2.75 yd (1.4 - 2.5 m) // 54-60" (137-153 cm) wide fabric: 1.25 - 2.1 yd (1.1 - 1.9 m).

Rashguard: 45" (114 cm) wide fabric: 1.25 - 2 yd (1.1 - 1.8 m) // 54-60" (137-153 cm) wide fabric: 1.13 - 1.67 yd (1 - 1.5 m).

Sizing: XS – 7X (approx. UK 6 – 34, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

The pattern was drafted using sample measurements for a height of 5'6" (168 cm) and a B-cup bra size.

Notions: Stretch sewing machine needle; 1/4" (0.6 cm) wide Wonder Tape; 16" (41 cm) zipper (the designer recommends plastic for swimwear) // Optional: walking foot (can make it easier to sew with slippery knits).
